Strychnine 2026 – training information
** UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2026 – We received this message from our supplier:
Despite all our efforts this summer, we were unable to secure enough raw materials to produce and distribute 2% LSC to all municipalities. This was unfortunate for everyone involved. We are securing a shipment that is expected to arrive by the end of November, and we are also scheduling another shipment for January. With these two shipments, we expect to be able to fulfill all orders we currently have. There should be no concern about supply shortages at this time. We will ship throughout the winter months to locations that can accommodate the product in climate-controlled storage areas. We will continue to distribute product during the spring months to all other municipalities.

The provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan have developed guidelines and requirements pertaining to the access to, use, and application of strychnine to control Richardsonʼs ground squirrels. Completing prescribed training is required as one of the eligibility requirements. Please see links below for training.
